Jio Launches ICR Plans: No More Network Worries! Jio Partners With BSNL for Wider Coverage
Reliance Jio, the country’s leading telecom operator, has introduced brand-new Intra Circle Roaming (ICR) recharge plans. To make this possible, Jio has partnered with state-run telecom provider BSNL, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity even in areas where Jio’s network is weak or unavailable.
For now, these ICR plans are available only in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, but the company plans to expand them to more regions soon.
Two New Jio ICR Plans Introduced
Jio has launched two special recharge plans, both valid for 28 days:
-
₹396 Plan
-
10GB data
-
1000 minutes voice calling
-
1000 SMS
-
-
₹196 Plan
-
2GB data
-
1000 minutes voice calling
-
1000 SMS
-
These plans work exclusively on the BSNL network. That means your SIM will automatically use BSNL towers only when Jio’s signal is completely unavailable.
What Is ICR?
In many rural areas—and even in some cities—users often face network issues despite being surrounded by towers of other telecom operators. Until now, those networks were of no use if they didn't belong to your provider.
To solve this, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) introduced the Intra Circle Roaming facility in January this year. With ICR:
-
Jio, Airtel, and BSNL users can latch onto each other’s networks
-
Connectivity continues even when your operator’s tower is out of range
-
Services are enabled through towers built under the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) initiative
DBN, created under the Telecom Act 2023, focuses on expanding telecom access across India—ensuring good signal even in remote corners of the country.
