New rule for porting.. After changing the SIM, you have to wait for 7 days..!

Center has brought a new rule for mobile number porting. This rule will come into effect from July 1.

Telecom regulator Trai (TRAI) has revealed that there is a seven-day waiting period to be eligible for Mobile Number Porting (MNP) after a SIM swap or exchange. This new rule will come into effect from July 1. TRAI has taken these measures to prevent frauds using mobile phone numbers.

Earlier the waiting time in case of SIM swap was 10 days, but in the latest amendment it has been reduced to seven days. Henceforth, a Unique Porting Code (UPC) has been assigned to change the number within seven days. While many companies opined that the waiting time of 10 days after SIM swap is too long, some other companies have revealed that the subscribers are facing difficulties due to the 10 days waiting time. They said that 2-4 days is enough time.
